Yet another superb feature by Gmail.

Many accounts can be integrated into a single gmail account.

Goto Settings>Accounts>Add another email address

Here any mail id (even non gmail) can be specified (id which you use :) ) which you wish to use as the from address in your gmail account.

After “Send verification” is done, a mail will be sent to your other id where you are supposed to verify the authenticity.

After verifying, that id will be integrated into your gmail account which can be used as a from address.

A nice drop-down menu appears when you compose a mail where you can select from a list of ‘From:’ addresses.

Hurray ! :D

Please note that this not a spoofing technique and your original gmail id is traceable.

Google mp3 player in Gmail!

September 12, 2006

A new GMail feature lets you play MP3 files right inside the GMail interface without having to download the MP3 or open an external media player.

When you receive an audio file as an email attachment, click the play button and Google will play the audio file for you in a popup window.

Awesome!!

It’s actually the Google video player that’s playing the audio file.

Any MP3 files from the embedded Google Video player without even having to login to GMail. Here’s the URL:

http://mail.google.com/mail/html/audio.swf?audioUrl=URLofmp3

Replace the URLofmp3 with the actual location of the MP3 file on the web and play it inside Google Video.

Yet another territory expansion by google! :)

Gmail has an interesting feature where you can add a plus sign (+) after your Gmail address, and it’ll still get to your inbox.

Heres how it works, say your address is mymailid@gmail.com, and you want to automatically label all work e-mails. Add a plus sign and a phrase to make it mymailid+work@gmail.com and set up a filter to label it work.

(filters can be set in settings->filters).

Also,be sure to use plus-addressing for every form you fill online.

Eg: You could use
mymailid+timesofindia@gmail.com for timesofindia.com
pinkyrocks+somesite@gmail.com for somesite.com
Like this we can automatically label,Archive or Redirect the incoming mails to trash.

Gmail Rocks!! [:)]

Error code 766

September 4, 2006

Today, when i tried to login to my gmail account, i got the message in an annoying javascript pop-up :

“oops… the system was unable to perform your operation(error code 766).
please try again in a few seconds.”

Goddammit.. Not again.. that too when i REALLY want to check my mails!

Ok..i tried googling error code 766… nothing!! Got some stupid search results which niether concerned gmail or anythin near!

Hmm.. i decided to wait a few ’seconds’ as advised.. seconds passed by.. same msg… minutes passed by.. same stupid msg.. an hour passed by.. and it was the same message telling me to wait for a few seconds!.. Please tell me the exact no.of seconds i should wait instead of a ‘FEW’ seconds…

Finally after a an hour and 35 minutes.. i could access my Inbox…

Ahhh..finally, i thought … I may have many important mails..letsee…

To my dismay there a message in there waiting to be read :

“No new mail! There’s always Google news if you’re looking for something to read.”

Goddammit!! ><
